Introducing the Director

Jen Mackley

Company Director

Director, Jennifer Mackley is a well-respected project and licensing consultant with extensive experience in premises licensing, as well as across all areas of Festival business operations. Clients include Glastonbury Festival, where she continues to be the events licensing lead, Bristol City Council, WOMAD, Soho House and many other Local Authority clients. Jennifer co-authored the Event Industry Forum published Covid -19 guidance document in partnership with DCMS and Public Health in 2019, supporting the live event industry’s return to business during the pandemic and is a guest speaker at industry conferences including the Institute of Licensing Excellence and Event Buyers Live.

"I first experienced the buzz of delivering a successful event as a charity events fundraiser, setting up and leading overseas challenge events to international destinations, and delivering large-scale UK participation events.

Looking for a new challenge, I moved on into Festival world, and started at the top, leading on the licensing coordination for the world’s biggest greenfield event – the Glastonbury Festival. Working for the Mean Fiddler (now Festival Republic), I gained a unique insight into the operational and licensing requirements of delivering such a complex event.

Taking time out of the busy Festival scene – I moved on to spend seven years at Bristol City Council – working city wide to deliver high-profile strategic plans including the Parks and Green Spaces and Older People’s Strategies.

Working with local communities, corporate, private and third sector organisations, as well as agency partners, funders and Councillors has led to well-honed and diplomatic communication skills.

Having been freelance now for 7 years, I’ve delivered a wide range of events-focused projects specialising in licensing, event planning, resident liaison and long-term strategic events planning for local authorities. I am currently the Licensing Lead for the Glastonbury Festival once again and other clients include Womad, House Festival, and local Authorities including North Somerset and Bristol City Council."
